(Ranches) American Ranch, Cal., Feb 2, 1873 (Shasta). Manuscript postmark (Williams SHA-10) on obsolete Pacific Union Express shaded advertising cover of "C. G. Hubbard San Juan, Cal." (this express out of business in 1869), 3¢ entire addressed to San Francisco, Cal, Very Fine and choice, open 1855-1878 became Anderson, ex-Pearce.

Address on yellow 1857 cover with rare blue illustrated "Pacific Express Co." frank showing Horse & Rider, franked with 1857 3¢ dull red (mostly large margins) tied by "Sacramento, Cal. Jul 28, 1857" cds, flap torn, Very Fine, a major Pacific Express display piece.

Manuscript postmark (Williams SIS-580) during second Callahan manuscript period (1st in 1850's, 2nd in 1870's) on yellow cover to Santa Rosa, Cal., franked with manuscript cancelled 3¢ Banknote, included is interesting original enclosure datelined "Noyes Valley", Very Fine.

(Ranches) Charley's Ranch (Cal.), Jul 14, 1857 (Butte). Manuscript postmark (Williams BUT-760) on brown stampless cover with original letter to Maine with manuscript "Paid 10 ct" rate, Extremely Fine, in wonderful condition, open 1852-1858, only 3 examples recorded.

(Ranches) Dobbin's Ranch PO, Yuba Co, Cal, April 11, 1852 (Yuba). Manuscript postmark (Williams Yub-510) with matching "10" on brown stampless cover to Erie, P., minor edge wear, Very Fine, a classic California rarity, open Oct 1851-May 1854 just 2 ½ years when its name was changed to Oregon House, 5 or 6 known.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

Manuscript endorsement at top on 1861 3¢ pink Nesbitt entire to Sebastopol, Cal. with "Langton's, Pioneer Express, Downieville" blue oval handstamp with printed frank in conjunction with Wells Fargo Marysville oval, torn on right side into stamp but with professional repair, Fine.

Bold postmark on illustrated cover "Via Panama" showing Steamer under Way cover to Palermo Centre, Me., franked 1857 1¢ type V + three 3¢ dull red with unusual roller cancel, corner card with imprint "Published by Randall & Co., Marysville", right side trimmed into stamp, Fine, a scarce cancel on a rare propaganda envelope, Ex Knapp.
