Hong Kong, 1941 Air Transit and "SR" Marking Covers. 2 covers, 1) From US, with Registered and Return Receipt Requested marks, to Shanghai via Hong Kong, circa Feb 41, where greenish-blue "Air Transit 6" applied (Proud type AM 56: 21 Sep 40 - 23 Oct 41). Chinese stamp applied partially over this air transit mark, but subsequently partially torn / scraped off. Red "Opened By Censor Hong Kong" resealing label (CCSG type 4B: Dec 40 - Nov 41). On back: small SR (HKSCJ 303/3: Sep 40 - Apr 41, although very seldom seen). SR applied after censorship to registered mail to Shanghai. Back of envelope torn. 2) From Shanghai to US, via Hong Kong, circa Mar 41, where greenish-blue "Air Transit 3" applied (Proud type AM 53: 20 Sep 40 - 15 Nov 41). "Opened By Censor Hong Kong" resealing label (CCSG type 4A: Nov 40 - Nov 41), envelope stained and corner torn, Fine.

Hong Kong, 1941-51 Hong Kong Mail with "AV2" Marks. 3 covers; 1) From India to United States, stamps cancelled "Bangalore 1 Jan", with back-stamp: "Victoria Hong Kong 28 Ja 41". Calcutta "Not Opened By Censor A" 4 (Morenweiser type 8), red "Opened By Censor Hong Kong" label (CCSG type 4B), and Heifetz type 5 Hong Kong A.V.2. (27 Dec 40 - 31 Oct 41). 2) To USA bearing Chinese stamps on back cancelled "Tohuk 2.11.41", with "Victoria Hong Kong 18 No 41". On front: "Not Opened By Censor", later use than recorded (CCSG type 7B: 10 Feb 40 - 29 Apr 41), and Hong Kong A.V.2. mark (Heifetz type 5a: only 25 Sep - 26 Nov 41; Proud type AM 46: 1 Oct - 1 Dec 41), only 21 examples recorded by Heifetz. 3) KGVI 20c and 50c stamps, paying 40c per ½ ounce airmail rate to Malaya, et.al., plus 30c registration fee, cancelled "Registered GPO Hong Kong 13 Oc 51", on front: AV2, without frame, Heifetz type 4 applied at Singapore, later use than recorded: Only 5 Aug - 4 Dec 1948, Very Fine.

Hong Kong, 1946-48 Airmail Instruction Marks. 10 covers; 1) Cover (torn at right) to India at 2 x $1 per ½ ounce rate, cancelled 24 MY 46, with later than recorded "By Air To Calcutta Only" (Proud AM14: 17 Dec 45 - 22 May 46). 2) To US franked $2.80 airmail plus 25c registration, cancelled 3 June 47, with "By Air Throughout", larger than illustrated by Proud, but apparently the only recorded example of AM37 (3 June 47). Also "R Hong Kong B" registration label (Tsang HKGA3: only Mar 47, priced as R). 3) To US bearing KGVI 30c and $1 cancelled "Hong Kong 30 My 47", with "By Air To Office of Exchange Only", latest recorded date (Proud type AM 17: only 1 Feb - 30 May 47). 4) To US, franked 10c and 20c black block of four plus two singles (20c black seldom seen on cover), cancelled 9 JU 47, with earlier than recorded "By Air To Office of Exchange Only" (Proud AM18: only 23 June - 12 July 47, and Jan 48). 5) To US franked 30c and $1, cancelled 12 AU 47, with earlier than recorded "By Air To Office of Exchange Only" (Proud AM19: 2 Oct 47 - 27 Sep 48). 6) To US bearing KGVI 10c (8, underpaid $2 rate, but not marked postage due), cancelled "Hong Kong 11 Au 47", bearing "By Air To Office of Exchange Only", earlier than recorded (Proud type AM 19: 2 Oct 47 - 27 Sep 48). 7) To US bearing $1.55 postage ($1.30 air plus 25c registration), cancelled 3 JA 47, with "By Air To London Only" (Proud AM26). 8) To US bearing $1.30 airmail, cancelled 3 JA 47, with "By Air To London Only" (Proud AM27). 9) To US bearing $1.30 airmail, cancelled 23 SP 46, with earlier than recorded "By Air To London Only" (Proud AM28: 9 Nov 46 - 30 Apr 47). 10) To US bearing $1.30 airmail, cancelled _ OC 48, with earlier than recorded "By Air To London Only" (Proud AM30: 9 Nov 48 - 1 Dec 50), Very Fine overall.
