Canada, 1851, 6d slate violet, laid paper. Ample to large margins, target canceled on 1851 folded letter to New York City, tied by red "Montreal, Jy 2, 1851" cds, red arched "Canada" box exchange handstamp and red "Paid" handstamps one additionally tying stamp; cover file folds one affecting adhesive, Very Fine appearance, still a very attractive cross border usage. SG No. 2.

O.g., hinge remnant, well centered for this variety amid wide margins, strong bold color, fresh, tiny central stain and light corner crease, otherwise Very Fine, despite small flaws, a rare an exceptional example, with less than 10 mint o.g. examples are known well centered and most with flaws; with 2006 V.G.
