Bavaria, 1862, 18kr vermilion red, two singles. In combination with 1862, 3kr rose + 1kr yellow, two singles, all stamps show "Zwergen-Schnitt" (dwarf cut) which was purposely done to facilitate the placement of multiple adhesives, tied by "145" numeral cog cancels on cover to New York City, matching Furth origin tombstone date stamp, red "Aachen, 24/4, Paid 23 cut to shape" transit cds and blue manuscript "35" seamail rate; light cover edge wear, Very Fine, an attractive 3-color franking.

Bavaria, 1867, 18kr red + 12kr lilac. Large margins to just into framelines; tied by bluish violet "Nurnberg, Dec 9, 1871" cds's on cover to Mexico City, routing endorsement "via St. Nazaire" changed to "voie d'Angleterre", blue Paris transit cds, "4" reales inland rate assessed at Veracruz port of entry and reduced with "2" reales handstamp in Mexico City, Very Fine and choice, a wonderful and very rare high value franking usage to Mexico; with 1986 Brettl certificate, signed R. Friedl.

Bavaria, 1776-1862 Bavaria Exhibition Collection. Over 160 stamps and 50 covers annotated on display pages; section of 25 pre-stamp covers with many 18th and early 19th century town usages, with main focus on the 1849-62 Numeral issues starting with mint o.g. and two used 1849 1kr black singles all with four large margins, reference reproductions with Sperati forgery strip of 3 tied to piece (very scarce), selection 1849 3kr & 6kr values including pairs & 6kr cover, following 1850 1kr (plate 1) & 6kr issues with mint, pairs, shades, choice on cover usages, various numeral cogwheels, 6kr with top left & right corner margin singles and unusual paper and silk thread variations, 9kr issue highlighted with very scarce mint blue green shade (Mi #5bIII, cat €13,000), study of mostly type III with an additional mint left margin block of 4 (Mi. #5dIII, cat. €1,000), 12kr & 18kr with mint and used, 1862 issues with several 3-color franking cover to Rotterdam, multiple copies of each issue with mint and used with an array of postmarks, virtually all 4-margin, including pairs, strips, a few covers and 18kr with mint block of 4 (Mi. #14b, cat €1,400), also including a scarce selection of 14 black proofs of the six denominations on various color papers; a remarkable collection with overall condition well above the norm, Very Fine.

Approximately 450 stamps and over 80 covers or cards (including some mint stationery) mounted on display pages with a comprehensive study of the 1867-1911 Coat of Arms issue; 1867-68 embossed issue with mint and used with lower denomination postmark study including the rare Rõhrmoos "901" numeral cog cancel, on cover with multiple mixed franking, 12kr usage, 1868 issues with scarce 7kr strip and 6kr official reprint, 1870 issue highlighted by mint & used 12kr lilac, 1872 3-color franking cover from Augsburg to Palermo, Italy, 1874-75 1m issues including scarce imperf block on piece (slight scissor cut between stamps at bottom), selection of postal entires with some better including postal orders, ad letter sheet and entires, etc., later issues in similar fashion with mint including blocks and gutter pairs, better shade varieties, town postmark studies and on cover usages, scarce unissued 1911 3pf light ocher brown, perf 14¼, etc.; a exceptional assembly of these issues with condition well above what is normally encountered, Very Fine overall.

Well over 600 stamps and 12 covers or cards mostly mounted on display pages; 1911 Prince Luitpold issue with complete mint & used set, including various types and perfins, covers including registered, varieties, scarce perfin officials, etc., 1912 Munich airpost stamp and used postal card, comprehensive King Ludwig issues with sets mint and used, imperfs including better multiples, zusammendruke including full panes, overprint sets, etc., later Reich types with varieties, proofs, officials, return labels, telegraph, also a section of cut square and Ludwig issue ad tabs and other zusammendruke; with quality and condition well above the norm overall, Very Fine.
