Mexico, Tlalpujahua, Franco En, Aug 1, 1887 (Michoacan). Purple oval date stamp on cover to Chicago, Ill., franked with 1886, 1c yellow green, vertical pair + 3c lilac tied by grid cancels, cover aging at edges and light vertical file fold affecting one 1¢ stamp, F.-V.F., a very rare postmark, unlisted in Schimmer.

Mexico, Toluca. Exceptional strike of bold oval handstamp with matching unrecorded "Franca Riscos" free franking circular handstamp on ca. 1760's folded letter sheet, important "Correo Mayor" usage sent to Domingo Lopez, last Postamster of Mexico City before the mail was reverted to the Crown in 1766; minor clip rust stain at top, Very Fine and choice, a rare official usage sent under the "Correo Mayor" system under which the Post was privately owned.
Estimate    $3,000 - 4,000.

Cds (Schimmer, N.L. 48/4) tying cut to shape 10c blue on certified 10c Numeral entire to New York City with postal service corner card, manuscript "A.R., Garcia N.S." in circle return receipt marking at top (N.L. 48/5) and certification etiquette, Very Fine, the listing example of this return receipt postmark, most certainly unique.

Mexico, Stampless covers, 1856-63. 11 folded letters with better town postmarks; includes Minatitlan (Schatzkes 1788), Perote (631), Tesiutlan (638), Yguala (1641), S.L. Potosi (1443 + 1445), Canelas (246), manuscript Apizaco (1176A), Valle de Santiago (1338 + 1338A), Tlacotalpam (1802), Hidalgo del Parral (161) and Nombre de Dios (277); full clear strikes, Very Fine.

Mexico, S. L. Potosi, Abril, 11, 1864. Oval date stamp with matching "Franco" handstamp (Schatzkes 1446 & 1446A) on folded mourning letter sheet to Saltillo, "2" rate handstamp on reverse, S.L. Potosi (which was in conservative hands) sent to Saltillo which was in liberal area and did not recognize payment, with "2" due handstamp on front applied in Saltillo, Very Fine and choice, S.L. Potosi was out of stamps until April 16 when invoice #60 arrived.
