Mexico, 1861, 4r black on yellow, half used as 2r, Queretaro. In combination with 1r black on green on 1864 folded letter sheet, tied by Queretaro boxed postmark overprint, Very Fine and very rare, only 8 bisects from this district were recorded in the Schimmer census and fewer than 5 combination covers are known, ex Gutierrez, O. Rodriguez; signed Bash.

Tuspan oval cancel (Schatzkes 1728), couple small thins and light crease, Fine, normally a suboffice of Veracruz, Tuspan received 240 1861 4r stamps in two direct consignments (both colors), all without overprint and recognized only by the Tuspan cancel; with 2000 MEPSI certificate.

Mexico, 1861, 4r dull rose on yellow, Puebla. Tied by "4" reales postage due handstamp on 1862 General Leonardo Marquez manuscript endorsed cover to Puebla as free military mail, manuscript "S.M." ('Servicio Militaire) and "De ofo." (Official Business) notations, not recognized by Puebla postmaster and charged at the 4r letter rate, cover with clipped corners and missing backflap, F.-V.F., extremely rare, the only recorded franked postage due usage in classic Mexico philately, ex Mazepa.

Mexico, 1861, 4r dull rose on yellow, Veracruz. No district overprint, neat Veracruz oval handstamp (Schatzkes 1751) used during French occupation, mostly large margins to just touching at lower right, faint crease in top margin, otherwise Very Fine, very few examples are known from the occupation period, all stamps from this period lack the overprint and most bear this cancel.

Mexico, 1861, 8r black on red brown, Chihuahua. Tied on small piece by negative Chihuahua cancel (Schatzkes 140), large to mostly huge margins showing plate line at right, Extremely Fine, one of the finest known examples of this rare stamp, with 1,240 stamps of both colors sent; with 2007 MEPSI certificate.

Mexico, 1861, 8r black on red brown, 1/8 split used as 1r, Guanajuato. Tied by small oval handstamp on cover front to Guanajuato, blue Silao de la Victoria double oval handstamp at top right, F.-V.F., a great rarity, the only 8r 1/8 split from Silao and one of only approximately 7-8 usages known, ex Gutierrez, O. Rodriguez; with 1991 MEPSI certificate.
