Lot 1914    

Mexico, 1874, 5c brown violet, Matamoros. Cut square tied on what appears to be a large part wrapper by "Franco En Matamoros, E.U.M., 25 Ago, 85" oval date stamp, addressed to Monterey, Very Fine, a very rare usage of an illegal cut out.

Mexico, 1874, 5c brown, eleven singles + 10c black, three singles, Oaxaca. Cons 2378, overlapping on 1874 official cover front, tied by manuscript "Franco en V(illa) A(lvarez) Simatlan" with portion of "Villa Alvarez" handstamp below; front rough at sides, Fine and rare, Villa Alvarez or Zimatlan is such a small town that it is not even mentioned by Schimmer.
