France, 1852 Lareole, France to New Orleans, La. Folded letter with double line "Lareole 5 Aout 52" cds upper right corner intertwined with a partial "New York Aug 26" cds with 5 cents due and green oval "CAR 2" (carrier 2 cents due) New Orleans marking, partial (about half of the handstamp) green framed "N.O.U.S. City Post, Sep 4" carrier handstamp adjacent. Black manuscript "13" decimes (paid to U.S. border) on the reverse. This would have necessitated collecting a total of 7 cents (5 cents U.S. inland + 2 cents carrier fee) in New Orleans, F.-V.F.
