Confederacy, United States, 1853-55 3¢ red, Nesbitt Postal Entire, with double strike of Chester C.H., S.C. Jan 14 (1861) cds, addressed to Orphan House Charleston with delicate original letter headed "Chester 12 Jn 1861", with long articulate content re state of secession in the states of Florida and Mississippi to wit (they) "have hoisted their flag of independence and probably ere this reaches you Ala will also be out, we dreaded our apparent free pitance but as others come in it gives weight to the measure", also discusses slavery and negroes, rails on against the Northern masses and villains Seward, Sumner, etc., speaks of Christ and sermons and on and on of truly outstanding content, small cover edge tears, Very Fine and historic.
