Confederacy, (Alabama) Tuscaloosa, Al., Nov 28 (1861), cds with handstamped "Paid 5", type IA, on with to Oakland College, Mississippi addressed in peacock blue ink with nice 4-page soldier's letter describing recruiting for the unit with note that "if Abe should hear that Dumsden's Artillery is coming & close the war I can resume my rocking chair", from George Little, a sergeant in the 2nd Battalion Alabama Light Artillery, F.-V.F.

Confederacy, (Arkansas) Princeton, Arkansas, Mar 20, gorgeous green strike cds with matching "Paid 10" handstamped paid on cover to Carroll, Hoy & Co. in New Orleans, usual small filing holes, tear at bottom from opening, otherwise Very Fine, Rare Handstamped Paid marking struck in green, backstamped RHW(eill) with MacBride handwriting on verso. Only three examples of this handstamped Paid marking are recorded.

Confederacy, (Florida) Madison, Fla July 13 (1863 or 64), manuscript cancel on cover franked with 1863 10¢ blue (large margins) with manuscript cancel to Anderson, C.H., S.C., top back flap tears, one of which extends slightly over to the front of the cover at top, Very Fine, illustrated in The Confederate Philatelist and American Philatelist February 2000 articles on the 3¢ Madison postmaster provisionals by Trish Kaufmann; subject of handwriting analysis used in the articles.
