Benicia, Cal., Jun 29 (Solano). Town postmark (Williams SOL-100) in red on fresh 1850 folded letter to Sacramento City, with matching ornamental "12½" due rate handstamp; trivial cover nick at bottom, Very Fine and choice, a striking 12½¢ intra-California rate usage.

Benicia, Cal., Jul 29 (Solano). Full bold cds (Williams SOL-100) in blue on 1850 rebacked cover front to Ipswich, Mass., matching "Paid" straight line and "40" rate handstamps, an Extremely Fine strike, and a very rare 40¢ transcontinental rate usage from Benicia.

Louisville, Cal., Feby 22nd (El Dorado). Manuscript postmark (ELD-2430) with "80" double transcontinental rate on cover to Bangor, Me.; cover with small portion of backflap restored, Very Fine, a wonderful and very rare earliest known usage from Louisville, Cal. with Louisville eventually changing name to Greenwood in October of 1852.

Marysville, Cal., 40, Oct 29 (Yuba). Full clear cds (YUB-810) on cover to Mansfield, O., matching straight line "Paid" alongside with additional "40 Pd" in pencil at right, endorsed "per Steamer of 1st Nov"; sealed cover tear at top not affecting postmarks, Very Fine.
