Reinking's Coast Express. Two strike of blue oval handstamp tying 1857, 1¢ blue, type V, two single + 3¢ dull red + 10¢ green, type V on 1861 cover Dereham, Canada West, entered the mails with blue "Smith's Ranch, Cal., Sept 18, 1861" cds, red "Chicago, Ill., Paid 15" postmark and receiving backstamp; some stamps flaws and cover edge wear and tears restored with backflaps reattached, Fine appearance, an extremely rare usage.

Clear "Forwarded By" oval handstamp on cover addressed to Stockton, Cal., manuscript "Brookline N.H., Feby 13" origin postmark with matching "40" rate, "Per Express to Mormon Gulch" routing endorsement by sender, "J ass" express routing (Jackass Hill) and "2.00" charge in pencil, Very Fine, a rare usage and destination.

Express, Petaluma" oval handstamp; both covers with repaired reductions at right, 3¢ entire with portion of indicia added and handstamp drawn in, F.-V.F. appearance.

Two covers from correspondence to Yreka; 1869 cover franked with uncanceled 1861, 3¢ rose with "By Tickner Express" notation, 1868 oversized cover (refolded) with manuscript "Expresay Paid, 25 cts" frank at top, franked with 1861, 3¢ rose, strip of 3 (s.e. at left), F.-V.F., a very rare pair of covers from this small family express.
