Specialized award winning collection on exhibit pages and stockpages in 20 binder volumes; off-cover issue study highlights comprised of the various proofs, steamer press essay, scarce experimental papers with ribbed & honeycomb watermark paper blocks and wavy line watermark pair, Special Printing issues including n.h. single and o.g. imprint pair and the rare horizontal pair imperf between (all with certs), sample overprints, an array of mint steamer press issues including plate block, perf and plate variations, etc., fancy cancels with several hundred off-cover with many scarce and choice strikes, several dozen nice on cover examples including the Port Townsend kicking mule, extensive on cover section with well over 900 covers covering virtually every aspect of the period, including a strong section of illustrated/advertising covers spanning the range of designs including 2 volumes of hotels, allover designs, some multicolored, etc., usages including sections of foreign destinations, forwarded mail, postage due, registered, fancy town postmarks, R.P.O.'s, special delivery, carrier, express, valentines, wrapper and newspaper usages, patent cancel, foreign & domestic mixed frankings, private letter return labels (National, Chicago, Ill.), pioneer post card, etc.; collection also accompanied by many articles, some regarding covers in collection, as well as the 2-volume book by Willard, a truly wonderful assembly of the 1883 2¢ red brown issue and an ideal collection for continuation.
