(Choctaw Nation) Spring Bluff, C.N. Manuscript postmark on cover franked with 1867 3¢ rose with manuscript "1869" cancel and addressed to "Allen Wright, Principal Chief C.N., Boggy Depot, C.N.", some docketing at left, Very Fine.

Allen Wright became the Principal Chief of the Choctaw Nation in the fall of 1866 serving until the fall of 1870. His contribution to the spiritual, educational and political concerns of his people is unparalleled. He was a man of rare intellectual qualities and was prominently the scholar of his tribe. He was a masterful executive and will ever adorn the pages of Choctaw history as one of its most distinguished leaders. He passed away December 2, 1885, at his home at Boggy Depot where he is buried.
