Manuscript postmark with matching "Paid 40" rate on folded letter to St. Louis, Mo., lengthy 3-page letter written by James Ferguson, sheriff of Salt Lake City, with interesting content: "I am just now liberated from the charge of a vagabond doctor whom I had arrested…", included is a lengthy article on Sheriff Ferguson detailing his colorful life, cover with wear along edges at top & bottom, Fine, a very rare postmark used when Utah was an unorganized territory.
