Red oval handstamp on 1851 folded cover from New Orleans to Monroe, La. with "Monroe" arrival cds with manuscript "Steam 10" rate, included is 1858 printed billhead for the steamboat "Dr. Batey", Extremely Fine and attractive, the Dr. Batey was built in 1850 and later became a Confederate Ironclad in 1861. Milgram No. 359.

Red circular handstamp on 1853 folded cover from New Orleans to Clinton, franked with uncancelled 1851 3¢ dull red (tiny corner flaw), carried by steamer to Port Hudson then forwarded by train with light strike of red oval "Forwarded by C & P.H. Rail Road", F.-V.F., a most unusual item. Milgram No. 413.
