Inland Waterway Route Agent Handstamps. An interesting lot of 33 covers & entires with a wide variety of Agents markings, covers included all over shaded ad cover franked with 1857 3¢ tied by blue "N.O. & Vicksburg R.R." cds, 1853-55 3¢ Nesbitt with blue "Route 7309" double oval with red oval "Steamboat Southern Belle" handstamp, 3¢ green entire with blue "N.O. & V.M.L. R.R." cds, 3¢ pink entire postmarked blue "Memp. & Vicksburg USM Pkt." cds, 3¢ green entire additionally franked with 3¢ Bank Note tied by "V & N.O. Mail Line" cds, plus much more, mixed condition, F.-V.F., a fascinating lot for the specialist.

Lot of two folded covers, first is 1840 folded cover from Acapulco, Mexico to London sent via New Orleans with "Schmidt & Co." black oval handstamp, 2nd is c. 1859 folded cover from New York to Mexico with red New York forwarder's handstamp on reverse & New Orleans forwarder's of "J.W. Zacharie & Co." in red oval, F.-V.F.

Panama, N.Y., Jun 23 Despatch Agent (New Grenada). Postmark on folded cover to Clarksville, Tennessee, postmarked red "New Orleans, La., Jul 10" transit cds with matching "Steam" straight line and "30" in circle rate handstamp, blue "Clarksville, Te., Jul 20" receiving cds, forwarded to Solen, N.Y. with manuscript "10" rate added & totalled to "40" rate, Very Fine and rare, one of 13 recorded markings and the only recorded being forwarded.

(Ship) 1809-45 Domestic Ship Mail. Lot of nine folded covers manuscript Name of Boat markings, "Ship" & "Steam" handstamps, rate handstamps, various different rates, included is an 1836 folded cover from Matogorda, Texas to New Orleans with manuscript "Schr. Orbit" & "6" rate, 1831 folded cover (stained) from New Orleans Feb. 10 & endorsed at bottom left "DeWitt Clinton", to New York & postmarked red "New York/May 29" cds with manuscript "1" drop rate, an interval of 110 days in transit, thought to have been recovered from the wreck of the Dewitt Clinton, 1829 folded cover from Bath, Me. to Charleston, where it was forwarded by private ship to New Orleans with scarce red two line "Ship 14½" handstamp & manuscript "Due 18½", plus two folded covers with "Steam" handstamp used on domestic contract ships, etc., some cover aging, F.-V.F.
Estimate    $500 - 750.
