1857, 3¢ brownish claret, type I, major plate crack. Position 47R7 showing crack in margin extending into rosette at upper right, large Boston "Paid" in grid cancel, remarkably well centered, rich color, an Extremely Fine gem, a superb example of this scarce plate crack variety, quite certainly one of the finest examples known; with 1999 P.F. certificate.
