Lot 2049    

1893 Columbian Exposition Postcard. Lovely unused printed design in brown on light green card published by B. Kenyon (Megson GB110, Cat. $300), Extremely Fine and rare.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Included is interesting note from the publisher, Brewster Kenyon, dated "June 4, 1946", which reads, "Here are the copies of the light green and light rose Private Post Cards that I had made and used at the time of the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893, just as noted in the paragraph about them, that you found on page 73 of the April 1893 issue of 'The Postal Card'. They were lithographed by a Los Angeles company and 1000 printed of each shade. Being larger than the Government Postal Cards, I had to pay 2¢ postage on them. Probably 90% of them were used in correspondence with non-philatelist." Signed Brewster Kenyon.

Lot 2051    

1893 Columbian Exposition Postcard. Mint "Puck" 1¢ Postal Expo. cards with Brown Torches (UPSS #EX75), the card is published by the "Keppler & Schwarzmann" company, printer of the "Puck" magazine, however they were actually printed by the J. Ottman Co. at the Puck Exhibit on the Fairgrounds, trivial corner crease at bottom right on this otherwise mint card, still Extremely Fine, rarely found in this condition & one of the rarest Exposition Cards, these cards were produced by using the stationery colors rather than the normal postal card colors.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.
