Stephens, Vice President of C.S.A. in Richmond, postmarked "Newnan, Ga. Jun. 5" (1861) cds with straight line "Paid" handstamp and "5" handstamp re-rated to "10" handstamp, cover manufacture's imprint on reverse, "N. Orr & Co., Manufacturers of Illuminated Envelopes", small bit of flap torn off, Extremely Fine and attractive.

Docketed on reverse that College President Kellogg "tenders to the Confederate Government the whole income of the College either as a gift on loan; reserving only a sufficient sum to defray the expenses of his family and the college economically administrated.".
