Confederacy, Incoming Blockade-Run Cover - Charleston, S.C. Cover addressed to "Macon, Ga., C.S. of A." and postmarked "Charleston, S.C./Sep. 29, 1862" double circle with pencil manuscript "12" rate and large oval "Steam-Ship" handstamp, minor bit of cover toning at left, still Extremely Fine.

Confederacy, Incoming Blockade-Run Cover - Charleston, S.C. Legal size cover addressed to "Capt. John McCrady, Chief Engineer, Savannah, Ga." with endorsement "Official Business" at bottom left, postmarked "Charleston, S.C./Nov. 5" (1864) double circle with pencil manuscript "22" rate over struck with handstamped "22" in circle indicating double rate cover (2 x 10¢ Confederate Postage + 2¢ Ship Captain Fee), additional struck with oval "Steam-Ship" handstamp and endorsed at top left manuscript "p. S.S. Fox", Extremely Fine.
Estimate    $1,500 - 2,000.

A wonderful and rare double rate cover carried on board the Blockade Runner the "S.S. Fox" from the Bahamas.

Confederacy, Incoming Blockade-Run Cover - Charleston, S.C. With original enclosure datelined "Nassau, N.P., Dec. 5, 1864" and endorsed "pr. Str. Little Hattie", addressed to Gov. Brown in Milledgeville, Ga., cover brought in through Charleston with oval "Steam-Ship" handstamp and "Charleston, S.C./Jan. 31, 1865" cds with pencil "12" rating, cover with some docketing which shows a list of vessels on which cargo to the Confederacy was shipped, Very Fine.
Estimate    $1,500 - 2,000.

The "Little Hattie" (W. S. Lebby, Master) made 12 attempts at running the blockade with 10 successful voyages from June 1864 to February 1865.

Cover addressed to Atlanta & franked with Confederate States 1863-64 10¢ blue (sheet margin example, design touched) tied by "Wilmington, N.C./Oct. 24/5 Paid" (1863) cds with straight line "Ship" handstamp & manuscript "2" Ship Captain fee, cover struck with "Due 10" handstamp over a second manuscript "2" rate, some mounting adherence on reverse, Extremely Fine.

A gorgeous cover and one of the few franked with a Confederate States adhesive. A most unusual item for the Specialist.

Confederacy, Outbound Blockade-Run Usage from Savannah Ga. to Rome, Italy, via Nassau, Bahamas. Buff cover from the "Locke" correspondence, originating in Savannah on "Jul. 24, 1863" (docketed), addressed to Rome in care of Baring Bros. in London, carried from Charleston to Nassau by blockade runner (probably the Margaret & Jessie), posted in Nassau with "Bahamas/Au 22, 1863" British Post Office cds, carried to London with manuscript "2/2" due rate, minor edge wear, Very Fine.

Confederacy, Frederick City, Maryland/United States of America. Manuscript endorsement in top right cover on cover addressed to "Eatonton, Ga./Confederate States of America", endorsed at top left by sender "R.B. Nisbet, Cpt./3rd Regt. Geo. Vols.", carried privately by Military courier & mailed in Georgia with manuscript "Toombsboro, Ga./Sept. 19, 1862" postmark, Extremely Fine, a most unusual item, undoubtedly from a Confederate Officer who's Regiment had an incursion into the North.

Confederacy, Old Point Comfort, Va./Feb. 9. Double circle postmark with matching "Due 6" in circle handstamp on cover to Vermont with printed corner card of "A.H. Collester, Manufacturer of Lumber, Kingston, Ga. / N.B. Particular attention given to sawing Rail Road Lumber", included is original enclosure datelined "Collesterville, Ga., Jany. 18th, 1864" with great content regarding the Lumber business & mails sent by Flag of Truce, "Should you receive this, Please answer it immediately and direct to Kingston. You must write only one page leaving it unsealed. Put in ten cts & enclose all in an Outer Envelope & direct to the Genl. in Command at Fortress Monroe, by Flag of Truce.", Extremely Fine, a wonderful item detailing the Flag of Truce Mail system.

(New Brunswick) printed corner card to Cedar Spring, Ga. with manuscript endorsement "For Flag of Truce via Fortress Monroe", cover with light bend from enclosure (not included), Extremely Fine, a wonderful & unique Flag of Truce cover originating from New Brunswick, ex-Judd.
