Manuscript packet boat endorsement on cover to Petersburg, Va. franked with two 1861 5¢ green singles mostly large margins, small faults), cancelled by straight line "Paid" & manuscript ink stroke with "Yazoo City, Miss./Nov. 9, 1861" cds at left, additionally endorsed to left of stamps "N. SW. RR.", slight cover stain at top, Very Fine, ex-Malpass.

Confederacy, "Fanny". Manuscript River Packet endorsement at bottom left on 1862 folded cover to Selma, franked with 1861 5¢ green (four large even margins) neatly tied by "Mobile, Ala./Jun. 24" double circle postmark, Extremely Fine and scarce, ex-Ward, Bogg; with 2001 P.S.E. certificate.

Confederacy, "Peytona". Manuscript packet boat endorsement on cover to Port Gibson, Miss. and franked with 1861 5¢ green (just in at top) tied by "Grand Gulf, Miss./ Feb. 8" (1862) cds, flap missing, Very Fine, ex-Matz.

The "Peytona" was a Confederate States Mail Boat operating on the Mississippi River and its tributaries. She was burned and scuttled in the Yazoo River in July of 1863, by Commander Brown, to keep her from falling into the hands of the Union Navy.

Confederacy, Steam. Straight line handstamp tying 1861 5¢ green (large margins, small defect) on cover to Natchez, Miss. with pencil endorsement "Way", postmarked by light strike of "Natchez" cds upon entering the Mails, minor cover toned spots, Very Fine, ex-Hart, Everett.

A very rare Way cover carried on a Mississippi River Steamboat addressed to "General C.G. Dahlgren, Commanding 3rd Brigade, Army of Mississippi".

Charles G. Dahlgren (August 13, 1811 ? 1888) was a Confederate Brigadier General during the American Civil War. He commander the 3rd Brigade, Army of Mississippi before a dispute with the President of the Confederate States of America, Jefferson Davis, cost him his career.

Dahlgren raised two regiments of state-sponsored volunteer infantry (the 3rd and 7th Mississippi Infantry) by his own means. When his brigade was transferred from state service to the Provisional Army of the Confederate States, he lost his command. Dahlgren was known for a short temper and strong opinions, and strongly opposed this transfer. His outspoken opposition to the nationalization of his men cost him his command and sparked a feud with the family of Jefferson Davis that spanned from 1862 to 1906.
