Reynolds & Co.'s Express. Small black oval Forwarded /by/Reynold's & Co/Express with manuscript "2.00" rate marking, on cover with manuscript "Bayou Pierre La" and "40" transcontinental rate from Louisiana with "Aug 2 1850" date, to Stockton, some aging & couple faults on reverse, Fine and scarce.

Reynolds & Co.'s Express. Clearly struck "Forwarded by Reynolds & Co. Express" oval handstamp on brown cover from New York City to San Francisco, sent by mail via Panama with "New-York 40 Oct. 11" integral-rate circular datestamp, undoubtedly carried by Reynolds to the mining camps, Very Fine, Reynolds & Co. was one of the earliest California expresses, carrying mail to the Southern Mines.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

Reynolds & Co.'s Express. Clearly struck "Forwarded by Reynolds & Co. Express" oval handstamp on folded letter datelined June 26, 1850 at Westwood, Ma., addressed to San Francisco & carried by Reynolds to the mining camps with manuscript $2.00 express fee, with manuscript "40" transcontinental rate, Fine, Reynolds & Co. was one of the earliest California expresses, carrying mail to the Southern Mines.

Forwarded by Reynolds Todd & Co. Express/San Francisco. Blue oval handstamp with matching "Not Paid" in oval on folded cover to "Stockton Peninsula", manuscript "Per Adams Exp." in top right crossed out with "Reynolds" added, Very Fine and scarce.

Forwarded by Reynolds Todd & Co. Express/Sonora. Blue oval handstamp with matching "Not Paid" in oval on buff cover to San Francisco with manuscript endorsement "Pr. Reynolds Todd & Co." at bottom left, Very Fine.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

This Reynolds and Todd partnership lasted briefly from late 1851 until April 1852 when new owners took over.
