Wells Fargo & Co. 1853-55, 6¢ Nesbitt Entires Without Printed Franks. Two entires to New Jersey; one with blue San Francisco and other with red Sacramento "Express" oval handstamp, both entered the mails with New York cds; cover wear and some faults, Fine and rare.

Wells Fargo & Co. 1855-56 Transition Entires. 4 10¢ Nesbitt entires from San Francisco (4 with blue company oval handstamp and other with cds); 3 entering the mails with New York cds (two with enclosures), one endorsed "Nicaragua Route", one with matching oval "Paid" handstamp to Panama and other to New York canceled by grid handstamp (reduced at top); condition varies, F.-V.F. overall.

Wells Fargo & Co. Red Frank. At top left on 1853 10¢ Nesbitt entire to Hamilton, N.Y., money value notations and "Paid $3-" at top with "Paid" crossed out; trivial edge wear, Very Fine.

The second type frank came into use in June of 1856 and normally was applied to the upper left until the end of 1857. After that, it was normally applied at the top center.
