Jones & Edgar's Canyon City Express./Paid. Printed 2-line frank on 3¢ pink entire to Washington Territory cancelled by blue oval "Wells, Fargo & Co. Dalles O. Dec. 31" handstamp, docketed Jan 1, 1864 on reverse, reduced at right & some overall aging, Fine, a scarce conjunctive usage with a rare imprint, ex-Barkhausen.

Rundell & Jones' Express. 1863 cover franked with 1861 3¢ rose tied by "Port Townsend, W.T./Sep. 28" cds, addressed to Canyon City, Oregon, with endorsement "Care of Rundell & Jones / Dalles"; interesting contents datelined "Whidbey Island"; docketed on reverse "Rec'd at Canon City, Oct. 8, 1863", light file fold & minor edge wear, F.-V.F. and rare.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Rundell & Jones of Dalles were early expressmen to Canyon City before a post office was established there.

"Oregon Express" started by E.W. Tracy in February 1860 extending up the Columbia River to the Dalles, eventually to the Boise Basin Mines and Lewiston, Idaho.

Bold oval handstamp on 1860, 3¢ Star Die entire to Champoeg, Oregon, blue "Tracy & Co., Portland, Sep 15" cds and black company scroll frank; light cover toning and right edge repaired including small portion of indicia, F.-V.F. appearance, a wonderful cover showing the only recorded example of the Dayton handstamp, illustrated in the Forster book.
