Blood & Co., 1854 (1¢) bronze on lilac. Top gutter margin single, acid canceled and tied in combination with four margin 1851, 3¢ dull red, type I by "Philadelphia Pa., Oct. 12" cds on fresh cover to Peoria Ill., forwarded to Mossville Station with 1851, 3¢ dull red, type II tied by "Peoria, Ill., Oct. 19" cds slightly over Blood's cds, Very Fine, an interesting usage.

Blood & Co., 1854 (1¢) bronze on lilac. In combination with 1857, 3¢ dull red, both tied by Philadelphia octagon postmark, with additional Blood's postmark at bottom left, with original 1860 enclosure; small piece of backflap missing, Extremely Fine.

Lot 1977    

Blood & Co., 1853 (1¢) blue & pink on bluish. Margins large to just into frameline, tied by "Philadelphia, Pa., Feb 2" cds on cover with blue embossed Merchants Hotel shield corner card, locally addressed with "1" in octagon rate handstamp; light cover toning at upper right, otherwise Very Fine, an unusual local & post office intercity combination usage.

Lot 1978    

Blood & Co., 1848 (1¢) bronze on black. Small flaws, acid tied on 1849 folded letter (Quaker dateline) to New York City, franked with clear to large margin 1847, 5¢ brown tied by straight line "Philada. Railroad" handstamp, Very Fine, an attractive on cover combination sent over the Philadelphia Railroad; with 2009 P.F. certificate.

Blood & Co., 1855 (1¢) black. Full margins, tied by "Blood's Penny Post, Philada., Jul 7, 1858" cds on illustrated Joseph Cressman tobacconist corner card cover to Baltimore, Md., in combination with 1857, 3¢ dull red, type IV canceled by grid and just tied by "Philadelphia, Pa., Jul 7, 1858" octagon date stamp, with second strike of Blood's handstamp below; cover with couple light vertical file folds, one affecting local stamp, otherwise Very Fine, an attractive and scarce combination with the 1857, 3¢ dull red, type IV issue.

Lot 1980    

Blood & Co., 1848-60, albino embossing on buff. Uncanceled entire addressed to Philadelphia, Pa., with original enclosure datelined "Pottsville, Nov 8, 1850" with postscript A conductor of the Rail Road Train will drop this into Blood's Despatch for me.; light wear and hinged reside in corners, F.-V.F., a remarkable incoming usage of the Blood's "Office 28 So. 6th St." albino embossed entire.
