Hanford's Pony Express, 1845, 2¢ black on orange yellow. Ample to large margins showing portion of adjacent stamp below, tied by red "New York, 5cts, Apr 4" integral rate cds on 1848 folded letter to New London, Conn., Extremely Fine, a choice tied on cover example of the Hanford's Pony express stamp.

Homan's Empire Express, 1852, black on yellow. san-serif "Paid" followed by a comma variety, margins large in just in, some smudging of design, on cover to North Marshfield, Mass., in combination with ample to large margin 1851, 3¢ brownish carmine, type II tied by neat "New - York, Apr 2" cds, F.-V.F., one of six examples of the Homan's Empire Express stamps known and one of two known with the san-serif "Paid" and comma variety, both of which are on cover with a 1851, 3¢ stamp, unpriced on cover in Scott, ex Brown; with 2009 P.F. certificate.

Hussey's Post, 54 Pine St., Paid. Purple oval handstamp on cover to San Francisco, Cal., franked with 1873, 3¢ green, vertical pair (s.e. at right) applied over Hussey handstamp and canceled by "New York, May 31" cds and duplex killer, reverse with bold sharp "Jarrett & Palmer's Special Fast Trans-Continental Train, New York, June 1, 1876" cds and duplex killer (negative impression on front); sealed cover opening at top and stamps lifted and hinged below to show the local handstamp, F.-V.F., a remarkable local and special railroad postmark used only for this special transcontinental trip, of which less than 4 examples are known, ex Lichtenstein.

Tiny tear and light creases, uncanceled as usual on folded letter to Pittsburgh, Pa., red "Brooklyn, N.Y., Oct 8" cds and matching "10" rate handstamp at upper right; cover tone spots, Fine, a very rare usage with only seven on cover usages recorded, this cover being unrecorded and making eight known on cover usages; with 2009 P.F. certificate.
