Lot 2080    

Postal Card, 1885, 1¢ brown on buff. Lot of four Jefferson cards with "Hold for Postage" handstamp and additional 1¢ Banknote stamp used to uprate card to letter rate, this is due to the comic strip that has been cut out of a publication and pasted on back, Post Office regulations prohibit anything being attached to a postal card, Very Fine, most unusual and scarce, all four were mailed on the same day to the same person. UPSS No. S7.

Postal Card, 1891, 1¢ blue on grayish white, Double Impression (in blue and black), One Inverted. Mint card with normal impression in blue, with a second impression inverted, vert. crease, Fine, quite likely either a trial proof or printer's waste, nonetheless a highly collectible and visually striking piece.
