Postal Card, 1897, 1¢ black on buff, Forgery. Mint example with clean face and printed back with ad from school supplies house, typical poor printing quality and no serif at bottom of second "T" in "STATES", tiny trace of corner wear, Very Fine, a scarce forgery mentioned and discussed in a UPSS catalog footnote; with 1997 U.P.S.S. cert. UPSS No. S17 var.

Postal Card, 1897, 1¢ black on buff, Used in China. Cancelled with "Mil. Postal Sta No1/China/Dec. 6, 1900" cds additional franked with stamps of German Offices in China, Japanese Offices in China, India-China Expeditionary Force, Russia, China and France all cancelled with the "Tientsin" cancel of the nations stamps, addressed to France with a message though certainly prepared by a collector, Very Fine, a very scarce item.
