Langton's Pioneer Express. Printed frank on 1861 3¢ pink entire to Sacramento with "Valuable" manuscript notation, also a "Paid" pencil notation, scarce "Langton's Pioneer Express From Downieville" black on yellow label on the back, exchanged with "Wells Fargo & Co.'s Express From Marysville" black on orange label (couple small abrasions) at upper right and partly folded over the top, edge creases, slightly reduced at right, Fine, a rare money letter conjunctive usage, ex-Hackett.

Langton's Pioneer Express/Paid. Fancy black frank on 1861 3¢ pink entire to Vermont additionally franked with 1861 3¢ rose affixed over blue oval "Alleghany" handstamp (applied by Langton's prior to use), tied by "New York" double circle postmark & fancy geometric cancel, entire struck with red "Forest City" handstamp in rectangle at top & 2nd strike on reverse, adhesive lifted to reveal Alleghany marking & hinged at left of original position, small sealed tear at top affecting Forest City marking, slightly reduced at right, Very Fine, this Forest City marking is one of the rarest of all Langton handstamps.

Blue straight line in oval handstamp on 1853-55 3¢ Nesbitt entire with Langton's Pioneer Express printed frank and "Valuable" and "Collect" manuscript notations, to San Francisco, exchanged with "Wells Fargo & Co. / Marysville Nov 1" blue double oval handstamp (Leutzinger type 11-5) and "Wells Fargo & Co.'s Express From Marysville" black on orange label at lower left and slightly folded over the bottom, entire a bit reduced at left, F.-V.F. money letter use, ex-Hackett.

Black oval handstamp on 1853-55 3¢ Nesbitt entire to San Francisco with Langton's Pioneer Express typeset frank with flourishes, "1857" docket, short edge tear above the frank, top backflap partly missing, Very Fine and rare, Cover illustrated in Coburn's Letters of Gold (page 200). A rare frank., ex-Pearce & Haas.

Langton's Pioneer Express/Orleans Flat. Blue-green double-lined oval handstamp on 1853 3¢ Nesbitt entire with black company frank to Sacramento street address with request to "please deliver this immediately", skillfully repaired at left & on part of top backflap, handsome Very Fine appearance.

Latta's Mountain Express/Paid. Illustrated frank with small horse drawn stage at left & right on 3¢ Entire to San Francisco with "Washington, Cal." cds & transferred to Wells, Fargo & Co. with blue "Nevada" oval company handstamp, flap missing & couple small sealed edge tears, Very Fine and attractive, this is one of two known examples, Cover illustrated in Coburn's Letters of Gold (page 201) and in Nathan's Franks of Western Expresses.
