Fancy black frank on 1861 3¢ pink entire to Vermont additionally franked with 1861 3¢ rose affixed over blue oval "Alleghany" handstamp (applied by Langton's prior to use), tied by "New York" double circle postmark & fancy geometric cancel, entire struck with red "Forest City" handstamp in rectangle at top & 2nd strike on reverse, adhesive lifted to reveal Alleghany marking & hinged at left of original position, small sealed tear at top affecting Forest City marking, slightly reduced at right, Very Fine, this Forest City marking is one of the rarest of all Langton handstamps.Estimate $500 - 750.
