Mexico, (Matamoros) Bagdad. Full strike of oval Eagle handstamp (Schatzkes 735AB) on 1865 folded letter sheet to Matamoros, matching Franco handstamp (735AC), docketed "Boca del Rio" on inner flap, Very Fine, a very rare sub-office seal handstamp with only two such recorded, ex Corbett.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

Bagdad was only a tiny port, but suddenly expanded as a cotton blockade runner port during U.S. Civil War and French Intervention.
