Western Express & Company Cut Squares. Unbelievable group of more than 150 cut outs from express covers, entitled USELESS CASTRATIONS, neatly mounted on pages and very well annotated, showing an array of companies and towns & offices, many rare expresses but including many Wells, Fargo & Co. examples, including Pony Express cancelled stamps, sections of Oregon, Idaho, Nevada as well as California; excellent condition, definitely impossible to duplicate in this strong market for western expresses, truly a tragedy of foolish collecting but a wonderful reference (no photo).

California Express stationery datelined Folsom, 1874 Meader & Co's illustrated receipt from Oakland, Calif., 1853 Adams & Co. San Francisco payment instructions, and 1880 Marshall & Goff's Way Bill from Virginia to Mammoth Springs, generally F.-V.F.
