Confederacy, Prisoner of War Cover From Fort Columbus, Governor's Island, N.Y. Small folded letter franked with U.S. 1861 3¢ rose in combination with C.S.A. 1861 5¢ green, both tied by a single "New-York/Apr 22" double circle postmark to Caldwell, N.C. via the exchange point at Norfolk, Va. with blue "Norfolk, Va./Apr 28, '61" double circle postmark, manuscript endorsement "Prisoners Letter"; C.S.A. stamp with gum stains, Very Fine.
Scott No. 11    Estimate $750 - 1,000.

Letter, datelined "New York, Governor Island, April 21st 1862", includes "I was taken at the Newbern battle… " and "… direct your letter to Fort Columbus New York Harber [sic].".

Confederacy, Prisoner of War cover from Johnson's Island, O. Postmarked "Richmond, Va./Nov 16, 1863" cds and (Paid) "10" to Cartersville, Ga.; endorsed "From Capt T.F. Jones, 16th Ga. Batt Cavalry, Postage enclosed" and "By Flag of Truce Via Fortress Monroe & City Point [Va.]", fresh and Very Fine, Toaspern.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

Capt. Thomas F. Jones was captured at Blountsville, Tenn. in September of 1863 and held at Johnson?s Island until March of 1865.

U.S. 3¢ pink entire postmarked "Sandusky, O./Sep 6, 1864" duplex in combination with C.S.A. 1863, 10¢ blue, "T-E-N" (large margins) tied by bold "Richmond, Va./Sep. 29, 1864 " cds; endorsed "Via 'Flag of Truce' at Vicksburg Miss" with censor's manuscript "Ex GAR"; large stain, tear at top and flap missing, Fine, a rare use of a "T-E-N" on a P.O.W. cover.

J.N. Patterson; edge flaws, F.-V.F.
