Bottom margin of strip of 4 with imprint of the "National Bank Note Company" and plate number "31", o.g., attractively centered amid large margins, fresh with lovely rich color, some reinforced perfs between right pair, F.-V.F., an extremely scarce and attractive strip from Plate 31; with 2009 P.F. certificate.

Bottom margin plate "No. 50" strip of 4 with imprint, o.g., typical centering, some minor tone spots and slight creasing mostly affecting third stamp, otherwise Fine, one of only two mint multiples from Plate 50 and the only example to showing the full plate number and imprint, considered to the rarest Blackjack issue plates, no. 271 in the Chapin census.

(Imprints & Plate Numbers) 1867, 2¢ black, E. Grill. Top margin strip of 5 with "National Bank Note Co., New York" imprint, disturbed o.g. with some gum loss, centered to upper left, fresh, strong grill impressions with right pair showing slight doubling of grill, about Fine, a rare mint multiple.

Bottom margin plate "No. 53" strip of 5 with N.B.N.Co. imprint, without gum, attractive overall centering, rich color, perfs separations with some rejoined between stamps, some small stamp faults including sealed corner tear at right, Fine appearance, the unique plate no. 53 multiple of the 2¢ E. grill issue, illustrated in Lane, ex Allen, Metzger; with 2009 P.F. certificate.

Balance of 17 plate number items; Plate 29 includes Lowenburg patent essay bottom margin strip showing full plate and imprint, regular issue (73) including mint block of 4, block of 8, strip of 3 and used single, Plate 30 includes a mint block of 18 and single, used with 3 singles including one on cover front, Plate 31 with two used singles, the rare 50's plates include and used single from Plate 51 (partial number) and a mint and used F. grill singles from Plate 53; condition varies, generally Fine or better.
