Address on folded letter datelined "Alexandria July 14th, 1815" with interesting content regarding recent events and news at the end of the War of 1812 and the Treaty of GhentWe have has great rejoicings at Jacksons success & its lamented by many that Cockburn was not in the war thereit is reported that there was an indorsement on the New York way bill saying there is a Peacethere is no doubt with me but we shall have it shortly if it has not come, as Parliment say they had no idea that the Govt. was at war for conquestthere appears much dissatisfaction with many, since they have seen Mr. Madisons communications to Congress from GhentAppropriations are made to rebuild the Public buildings at WashingtonMr. Ringold clerk in the war office has said to one of our citizens he was authorized to say by the President that a Treaty has arrived, also content regarding the mails including an express leaving for Charleston; light cover staining, F.-V.F.

(Fernandina, Amelia Island, Jany 5th 1818, U.S. Ship John Adams). Dateline on folded letter to the postmaster at Batavia, N.Y., entered the mails with manuscript "St. Marys, Jany 10" postmark and "Free" franking, brown "Washn. City, Jan 21" cds with matching straight line "Free" handstamp, letter mentioning the recent island occupation and capture of a Spanish slave schoonerA few days after we took possession of this place a patriot Privateer came in with a Spanish Slave schnoor, her prize, in compy - we made prize of them both; minor edge wear, Very Fine.

(Fort Geo.(rge) Isld, Dec. 6, 1851). Dateline on folded letter to St. Augustine, Fla., cover with red "Mayport Mills, Fla., Dec 7th" cds and matching straight line "Free" handstamp and manuscript "K.B. Gibbs P.M." free frank, letter written by postmaster regarding the selling of lands including Fort George Island; file folds, Very Fine, one of two recorded usages of the "Free" handstamp from Mayport Mills, ex Rice.

Fort Pickens, Fla./December 10, 1845. Military origin docketing (type I) on fresh folded letter to Houlton, Me., officially entered the mails with "Pensacola, Flor., Dec 13" cds and manuscript "10" rate, Very Fine, the only known manuscript 'postmark' from Fort Pickens.

(Fort San Carlos, Barrancas). Dateline on 1827 folded letter to Chazy, N.Y., entered the mails with red "Pensa, F., Oct 6" cds and matching "Free" straight line handstamp (type VId), letter mentions Com. Porter and De Witt Clinton, Very Fine.

(Fort St. Marks, Florida, 1 Oct. 1823). Manuscript datelined on folded cover to Pittsford, VT., privately carried to Georgia and placed in the mails with rare "Creek Agency, Ga. 11th Oct." manuscript postmark, letter with interesting content…There is no mail comes to this place and letters are forwarded to this place by an express from the Creek Agency and It is expected that the Capital of the Floridas will be near this place and I intend or rather have in view a settlement here when the Indians shall be removed at the end of one year as by treaty will be the case; some light cover toning, F.-V.F., a rare and early Florida military post usage from Fort St. Marks.
