Two strikes of blue oval handstamp on 1861 3¢ pink entire with company frank to Boston, carried from Aurora by Wells, Fargo & Co. and placed in the mails with two strikes of rare "Carson City U. T." cds, some paper adherences to back (possibly from paste-up) and single flap tear, Very Fine.

Wells, Fargo & Co's Express/From Aurora. red printed label ("Aurora" town designation on label is in manuscript)on reverse of 1864 3¢ pink entire with company frank, addressed to Stockton, with manuscript endorsement over frank (which appears to be "Val. $2/Paid/WB"), nick out at top left and minor edge wear, Fine and rare.

Perfect strike of blue oval handstamp on 3¢ green entire with company frank to Sacramento, included is original enclosure on Wells, Fargo & Co. stationery dated "Feb 19th 1878", slightly clipped corner at upper right from opening, Very Fine and rare in this condition.

Wells, Fargo & Co./Candelaria, Nev. Oval handstamp on 3¢ green entire with company frank to Gold Hill Nev., small tear at top, Very Fine, a rare Wells, Fargo & Co. handstamp on a very clean cover.

Candelaria was known as a raucous silver mining town, which surely lived up to its sordid reputation on the day in 1880 when unarmed Candelaria Wells Fargo Agent Peter Traver was shot and killed by miner Mike Owens, who was angry over the fact that Traver had paid him for his labors by check instead of in cash.

Blue dateless oval handstamp on 1853-55 3¢ Nesbitt entire with company frank to San Francisco, docketed "1860", part of backflap missing and small nick at top, F.-V.F., a very early usage from Wells Fargo's Carson City express office, first listed in that company's 1860 directory.

Red printed label on addressed side of complete paste-up franked with uncancelled 1861 3¢ rose to San Francisco, manuscript "coll(ect)" endorsement at left, unaddressed side is 1861 3¢ pink entire with black company frank, label slightly folded under where paste-ups are joined but label is fully intact, Very Fine.
