Liberia, 1881, 3¢ Arms Issue. Collection arranged on stock pages; includes defaced die proofs in black and violet, 16 3¢ red trial colors including bottom margin strip of 4, strip of 5 and a left margin single from transfer 10 (the so-called 2nd printing or replaced transfer), over 150 regular issue stamps including unused block of 4 and three vertical pairs with left margin pair with transfer 10 at bottom, singles mostly identified by transfer types including right margin single transfer 1 type, 20 used examples including margin single and pair, some noted transfer varieties and a selection of 24 forgeries including block of 4; condition varies, generally F.-V.F.

Liberia, 1881, 3¢ Black. In combination with 1881, 3¢ red, Trial Color on 1894 cover to Freetown, Sierra Leone, tied by grid handstamp and "Freetown, Sierra Leone, My 5, 94" receiving cds, endorsed "Registered" at top yet without any registry markings, Very Fine, a very rare and unusual usage, accompanied by 1955 R. Lowe letter stating the Freetown and stamps are genuine to cover.
