Rainbow at Yokohama; majority of the covers are Official items, many Post Office Department, Interior Dept., Treasury, etc; should be carefully inspected for true value.

2¢ Black Jack Issue Cover Balance. 8 covers, including 1865 usage to England franked with four 3¢ rose (strip of 3 + single), 10¢ green and 2¢ black, all with circular grid cancels and red "Boston 3 Paid" postmark; 2¢ "E" grille to Bremen on folded cotton market circular; #73 on billboard circular rate with 2¢ grill to Pa.; 1864 2¢ usage on bootlegged drop cover from Brazil to South Boston; 2¢ wrapper to Paris; also "Confederate" Official cover "Conscript Office, Camp Holmes" franked with 10¢ #11d; handstamp "Franklinon, NC Aug 11" and circular "Paid 5"; and gilt-edged card printed "Happy New Year 1888" franked with 1¢ Bank Note addressed to"W.V. Nicholson, Philatelist, Erie, Penn'a", cancelled "Jan 1, 1 AM, 1888".

Diverse group of 20 covers, including 1869 advertising billboard franked with 3¢ 1869 from Wooster, Ohio; another billboard from Richmond, Va., colorful 1902 canned tomatoes to Germany; pair of impeccable blotters, one showing milkman & kids with dog playing postmarked Dairy, Oregon; the other showing woman folding gentleman's coat and furnishings postmarked Coats, Kans; 1895 wall telephone ad; insurance with horse drawn fire engine; Benziger's 1904 Catholic publishers; Denver & Rio Grande Express frank on 2¢ green entire; 1895 stamp dealer with great illustrated enclosure; #7 1¢ imperf Franklin on folded circular; 1¢ brown postal card with New Castle, Me., fancy "dog's head" cancel; couple c.1865 covers with Boston fancy Masonic compass and another hollow star on 3¢ rose; generally F-VF or better, retail prices $3,500 or so, excellent group, F.-V.F. lot.
