1867, 2¢ black, F. grill. Tied by "Charleston S.C. Apr" duplex on buff cover at the unsealed circular rate with blue printed cameo of Geo. W. Williams & Co., Merchant in Charleston S.C., accompanied by second drop cover with same green embossed corner card bearing 1¢ blue (24); latter with faults; F.-V.F. pair.

1867, 2¢ black, F. grill, horizontal bisect, used alone. Tied by open grid on unsealed envelope paying drop rate, "North Bridgewater Ms. Dec 15" cds, with original 1868 enclosure titled "Encampment Fletcher Webster, Post No. 13, G.A.R." circular; slight toning around perfs., otherwise Very Fine.

In combination with 1873, 3¢ green paying the 13¢ North German closed mail rate on cover to Ronnede, Denmark, canceled by rim of town mark with indistinct origin postmark at top, with receiving postmark on reverse; small cover tear at right, Very Fine, great combination & destination.

1869, 3¢ ultramarine. Horizontal strip of three and single, tied by Anchor in Diamond of Dots French Maritime cancels on orange cover to Caen, France, with "Etats-Unis/Paq. Fr. H. No. 3/12 Juin 69" French Line H octagonal datestamp, small red "PD" boxed handstamp, receiving backstamp, missing part of top flap, strip affected from placement near edge of cover and one stamp has fallen off in transit, otherwise Fine, a very rare usage.

1869, 10¢ yellow. Tied by neat New York station E duplex cancel on 1877 cover to Moradabad India with Methodist Episcopal Church corner card, manuscript "via Brindisi" routing instruction and three different backstamps, F.-V.F., an unusual late use of the 10¢ Pictorial.

1869, 15¢ brown & blue, type II. Deep rich colors, few lightly toned perfs, used in combination with 1¢ buff + 3¢ ultramarine, tied by segmented circular cork cancels on small cover addressed in blue to Rome, Italy, postmarked "Dunkirk N.Y. Feb. 16" (1870) cds with red "New York Paid All Br. Transit Feb. 19" transit datestamp on back and "4" credit handstamp on front, red Verviers-Cologne transit, purple "P.D." handstamp ties 1¢, blue "Fr 1½" rate, Rome receiving backstamp, vertical fold clear of stamps, long sealed opening tear passes beneath stamps (between 1¢ and 3¢) but does not affect them, cover refolded at top where 3¢ stamp overlaps edge (slightly creased), 1¢ has small faults at left, Very Fine appearance, Illustrated in color in the 1869 PRA Census (page 124), ex-Coulter; with 2006 P.F. certificate.
