Hawaii, 1871, 1¢ mauve, tied by hollow pin target handstamp on locally addressed cover, matching "Honolulu, H.I., Apr 21" cds; cover slightly reduced at left, Very Fine, a scarce drop letter rate usage.
Scott No. 30a    Estimate $100 - 150.

Letters deposited in the post office where they were to be delivered were free until a 1¢ rate was imposed in 1876.

Hawaii, 1871, 1¢ violet, in combination with 1882, 5¢ ultramarine on 1884, 4¢ red entire to Wiesbaden, Germany, stamps canceled by target handstamp with matching "Honolulu, H.I., Oct 14" alongside, N.Y. transit and 1884 receiving backstamps; minor toning affecting 1¢, Very Fine, the Earliest Usage of the 1884, 4¢ Postal Entire predating the earliest recorded by four months.

Honolulu, H.I., Paid All, Aug 25" cds (245.02, 1RR) at right, San Francisco transit backstamp; some cover toning and slight reduction at right, F.-V.F., an extremely rare manuscript postmark from Lanai of which only two are recorded.

Honolulu, H.I., Paid All, Aug 9" cds (245.02, 1RR), reverse with San Francisco transit and 1870 year date docketing; cover tear at left and corner nick in left stamp, F.-V.F., a rare Honolulu postmark known used between July 22nd and September 5th of 1870.
