Balance of Consignment, 1844-1909, Very eclectic group of items, including 1880's illustrated circular for Boston Fish Wharves, Civil War 1861 soldier's letter home, another discussing the probable killing of some friends in battle; an c. 1861 cover with college fraternity Delta Kappa Epsilon illustrated corner card addressed to soldier in 2nd Regt. U.S. Sharp Shooters at Washington, D.C.; several post cards with ethnic cartoons; couple 3¢ 1869 covers with nice advertising; 1851 letter N.Y. to London discussing the China Trade in tea & silk; another letter from Mobile discussing yellow fever epidemic in New Orleans and Mobile; 1909 large advertising postcard with Abercrombie & Fitch sporting clothes illustrations; most interesting contents here.

Trade Card Advertising & Victorian Graphics, 1880-1920, a fabulous hoard of over 1,000 trade cards & related ephemera, from a longtime collector; most items are full color images, and include "cut-outs" mounted in several scrap book type volumes, with a vast array of charming images of beautiful women, children, animals, comic characters, etc; the trade cards are arranged in clear display pages, often with similar themed cards grouped together; the topics are almost endless but include stationers, drug stores, "dollar" and "99¢" stores, novelty, general merchandise, shoe stores, dry goods, art stores; household goods such as furniture, carpets, wall paper, house paint, sewing machines including Singer, hardware & fishing tackle, cutlery, pianos & organs; many clothiers including Lord & Taylor, Best & Co., Jordan Marsh; food & cooking related such as yeast, baking powders, flour, coffee (such as Chase & Sandborn), tea, spices; canned goods such as Heinz (all 57 varieties), wines & liquors, cute "Borden" milk wagon, crackers including "Zu Zu" by National Biscuit Co., chocolate & cocoa, "Tabasco" hot sauce; cigarettes, jewelry & fine watches, photographers, florists, rooms for rent, manufacturing opticians, and on and on ad finitem; also included are dozens of illustrated auction catalogs, many with prices realized, several illustrated reference books, guide to trade card collecting, etc; overall condition is excellent, a few flaws to be expected, in person examination strongly recommended.
