(Sport - Roller Skates) Glenn & Wright, illustrated corner card design showing Quad Roller Skate, on 1863, 3¢ pink entire canceled by Atlanta, Ga. cds and circle of wedges duplex, 1870 docketing, Very Fine, a very early roller skate ad design.

The four-wheeled turning roller skate, or quad skate, was first designed in 1863 in New York City by James Leonard Plimpton in an attempt to improve upon previous inline design.
