1849 Ship Xylon Passenger Ticket "For San Francisco, Cal.", printed ticket on thick card (113x84mm), magenta "one hundred and twenty five dolls" manuscript fee, reverse with notation "Left Baltimore Feb 3rd, 1849, Landed in S.F. on Sept 14, 1849"; some creasing and faint stain at left, Fine, a very rare passenger ticket for the 7 month and 11 day trip around Cape Horn to San Francisco in 1849.

1850 (Illustrated Letter Sheet) A View of the (Elephant) (Baird 293) panel illustrations in gold on bluish showing various scenes including mining, gambling scene with personal notation "gambling table, Jack wins the money", hand carried/under cover letter to Bangor, Me. datelined "San Francisco, Aug 25th, 1850" with interesting 2-page letter regarding receiving letters…the post office opened today for delivery, and a large crowd assembled at the office to get their letters from their friends. After waiting my turn, which was about one hour…, mentions San Francisco burning down several times, etc.; some edge wear and small tears, F.-V.F.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

1850 (Illustrated Letter Sheet) Great Fire in San Francisco, June 14, 1850 (Baird 97) view down California street with view of harbor and fire between California and Clay, hand carried/under cover letter to Bangor, Me. datelined "San Francisco, Jun 30, 1850", letter with mention of fire; portion of letter missing affecting address panel and light toning affecting illustration, Fine, rare with only a couple known.

1850-1880 (Western Ephemera Balances) California & Western Prints, about 25 items, including a variety of views, scenes, Indian portraits and caricatures, Chinese caricatures, cattle scenes, many early items including Appleton lithographs, many hand colored items, wood blocks, and much more; lovely view of Mt. Shasta, "Californians Throwing the Lasso"; several scenes "Engrav'd for Drake's Voyages", "Golden Gate from Telegraph Hill", "A Halt in the Yosemite Valley " featuring an Indian scene; couple of early woodblocks including "The King of California places his Crown of Feathers on Admiral Drake's Head " & "A Californian Woman habited in the Skin of a Deer" from 1790; stunning colored Appleton lithograph "Emigrants Crossing the Plains"; "A Californian Wedding" from 1760; most items mounted, condition of prints generally F-VF or better, mountings mixed condition, please inspect for proper evaluation, very unusual opportunity.
