Western Express Covers - Whiting & Co.'s Feather River

Lots 1520-1522

Lot 1520

Whiting & Co.'s Feather River Express, printed frank (Haller FW12, Ty. 2, printed at slight angle) on fresh 1853, 3¢ Nesbitt entire to "Meekers Flat, North Fork Feather River", in conjunction with blue "Everts, Wilson & Co.'s Express, Marysville" circular handstamp canceling indicia; trivial edge wear, Very Fine and rare, an extremely rare conjunctive usage.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

An unusual conjunctive usage because both company's served the same area, according to Nathan "Everts and Whiting were close friends and so Whiting made arrangements to turn over his express business on the Quincy to Marysville part of the route." -- this is most likely an example of that route sharing.
