1851, 3¢ Orange Brown, Type I, position 40R5L, large margins to just into frameline at bottom, tied by large "Paid" in grid handstamp and red Boston cds on cover to St. Louis, Mo.; minor cover soiling, Very Fine, the very scarce so-called 1856 Orange Brown shade on cover, a small group of sheets was printed in 1856 in a color closely resembling the Orange Brown of 1852.

1852, 3¢ Dull Red, Type I, margins large to in, tied by full bold strike of blue fancy Running Stag in Circle cancel on cover to North Pownal, Vt., red "Shelbourne Falls, Mass., Jan. 14" cds; light horizontal file fold affecting stamp, otherwise Very Fine, still a clear well defined example of this very scarce and difficult fancy pictorial cancel.
