Hunt, L.G., 1¢ Black, Silk Paper, without red "G & G " overprint, intensely rich color, couple corner repairs, Fine appearance, with only 22 examples recorded in the Aldrich census (of which 12 are reported to be faulty) and one of the very few without the red Griggs & Goodwill overprint, a great rarity as such, Ex-H. Barr.

Almost every Hunt stamp on full silk paper was overprinted vertically "G & G" with a date in red. These examples where used provisionally by the successor company, Griggs & Goodwill, before the Hunt die was altered.
