Mexico, (Morelia) Valladolid, perfect full strike of oval postmark in red (Yag-Bash ML1-10) on ca. 1770 folded letter to San Miquel; reinforced corner wear, an Extremely Fine strike, a magnificent example of this "Correo Mayor" colonial handstamp, one of only three examples recorded.
Estimate    $2,000 - 3,000.

Valladolid was the former name for Morelia before 1828.

Mexico, (Oaxaca) Jamiltepec, fancy oval postmark (OJ65), manuscript and hand stamped 3r rate, ca. 1845 to Cosme Furlong, Governor of the state of Puebla, and (Morelia) Colima (YB ML57) + 3r rate both in blue, 19 September 1851 to Mexico D.F., "por Guadalajara", complete docketed letter, Very Fine.

Mexico, (Puebla) Puebla, 6 covers; 1827 straight line postmark (PU1) with "3" rate handstamp, 1806 straight line (PU2), 1806 straight line postmark (PU3) with "4" rate handstamp, 1838 boxed date stamp (PU5) and 1854 in red (faulty), 1854 blue cds (PU8) with matching "Franco" straight line handstamp, mostly Very Fine.

Mexico, (Puebla) Tehuacan, straight line certification date stamp on large 1803 colonial registered front to Puebla, with matching "Franca Serna" marking which was the name of the postmaster, manuscript cross hatching around the edges; some small insect holes with one slightly affecting postmaster marking, otherwise Very Fine, less than 20 Colonial registered fronts are known and most are now in the large Soler collection, markings unlisted in Yag & Bash.
