Trinidad C.T., July 30th 1866, manuscript postmark on cover to Deerfield, Mass., franked with manuscript canceled 1861, 3¢ rose, Very Fine and choice, the earliest known usage of this rare manuscript postmark from Trinidad.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad reached Trinidad from La Junta in 1877, after the Denver and Rio Grande, but won the right a way over Raton Pass to new Mexico. Trinidad became the commercial center of southern Colorado and for the surrounding coal mines.

Trinidad Col. Ty., Sep 29, 1873, clear strike of octagon date stamp with matching cork handstamp canceling on 1870, 3¢ green entire to Boston, Mass.; cover missing backflap, otherwise Very Fine, the unique example of the Trinidad octagon territorial postmark, unlisted in Jarrett.

Ula C.T., Feby 1, 72, manuscript postmark on cover to London, England, franked with manuscript canceled 1870, 3¢ green, horizontal pair, red New York exchange cds and red London entry postmark tying pair; couple small cover tears at top, still Very Fine, this is the only recorded manuscript territorial postmark from Ula.

Ula, Colo., Apr 26, red cds and matching target handstamp tying 1870, 3¢ green on cover to Berlin Heights, O.; with original 1872 enclosure headed Wet Mountain Valley with some interesting content regarding the railroads; cover with light edge scuff at top and a bit reduced at right, F.-V.F., a rare an unlisted example of the Ula circular date stamp in red.

Valmont, April 2nd, ca. 1866 manuscript postmark on cover to mount Holly, N.J., franked with manuscript canceled 1861, 3¢ rose, Very Fine, the only recorded territorial usage of a manuscript postmark from Valmont, a manuscript postmark was in use again on August 11, 1882.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

Southwest of Latham and Evans, Valmont was an early stage station on the road to Boulder.

Valmont, Col., Sep 30, cds and matching target handstamp tying 1869, 3¢ ultramarine on fresh cover to New York City, with original 1869 enclosure with interest content regarding the roads and railroad…The Denver Road will be finished this winter. They are now putting down the Rails, and have some 15 miles laid.; cover reduced at right, Very Fine, one of only a few handstamp postmark known from Valmont.

Walsenburgh, Col., Feb 1, cds and target duplex canceling on 1¢ postal card to Santa Fe, N.M., reverse with blue "Santa Fe, N.M., Received Office C.Q.M., Feb 4, 1876" boxed date stamp, Very Fine, this being the only recorded territorial postmark from this town.
