Angel and Flag, hanging from horn with "La Fiesta of Los Angeles April 15th to 20th 1895" in violet inside it with handstamped in same color "The National Bank of California" at top as advertising, on 1c blue entire cancelled by clear "Los Angeles April 16, 1895" cds to local address, this was the first envelope, light fold at right, otherwise Very Fine, a scarce design.

Lot 971    

Regal Parade, multicolored all over medieval procession and flag with "La Fiesta de Los Angeles", on European sized envelope that also is inscribed at top "Carnival Season 1895, April13th to April 20th", with 1893 2¢ red cancelled by cds of Los Angeles to Springfield, MA, tear at top and slightly trimmed at top, F.-V.F., a rare design, arguably the most beautiful design of the series.

Fantasy Design, consisting of the 4 major group of citizens representing Indians, Anglos, Chinese and Mexicans at top with ribbons, flowers, fantasy creatures at bottom in black, green, yellow and red and ribbon with "La Fiesta de Los Angeles" with tiny date of "April/22nd to 25th" below, corner card of "Boston Dry Goods Store" at bottom with 2¢ red cancelled by postmark of Los Angeles on cover dated April 13, 1896 to Cleveland, OH, Very Fine, scarce design.

Angel, Knight and Flags, multicolored red, yellow and green (the colors of La Fiesta) all over type design showing an Angel with long wand, star at the end and a parade of soldiers, "La Fiesta de Los Angeles" in large figures and below "Carnival Season…April 22nd to 25th, 1896" with 1893 2¢ red tied to cover by Los Angeles, CA duplex dated May 23, 1896 and some unused matching stationery, Very Fine.

Cowboy With Rope, which spells out "La Fiesta de Los Angeles" and date of "April 20-24, 1897", on 4 covers, 1 an entire Scott U311, the other 3 with 1893 2¢ red, with the adds of "Cudahy Packing Co., Darling & Pratt, Real Estate, mortgages, Mining and Investments, Cheney and Taylor, Attorneys, and Studebaker Bros, Fine Vehicles", the entire Very Fine and scarce, other 3 with faults, overall Fine.
