1864 (May 4) New York, N.Y. to Paris, France, folded letter at the unpaid 15¢ French Mail treaty rate with black "New York '6' May 4" debit cds, carried on Cunard Line Australasian from New York May 4 to Queenstown arriving May 14, red Calais (5.17) entry cds and "16" decimes due rating, forwarded to London with "British [4] / Foreign [1/4]" (Talbeart B3, Willcocks-Jay 1071), various backstamps including London (5.20) arrival cds, Very Fine, a rare usage on transatlantic mail.

1866 (Feb. 9) New York, N.Y. to Paris, France Forwarded to Rome, mourning cover addressed to care of Munroe & Co. in Paris bearing 1861, 5¢ brown and 10¢ green, cancelled by grid cancels and manuscript for the 15¢ direct rate to France, red cds below left France 20c., red French entry (2.21) cds and framed "PD" handstamp, Paris arrival backstamp, red framed "Trouve a la Trois / P. 1" (Found in the Box) framed handstamp, forwarded by Munroe & Co. to Rome with France 1868, 20c. blue (two singles) and 40c. orange, tied by star cancels, one additional stamp appears to be missing, Paris (2.23) cds, Rome arrival backstamp; flap mostly missing and some stamp flaws, Fine and colorful mourning cover use.

Apr 10" double-circle d.s. and bearing 1861, 5¢, brown, 10¢ green tied by cogwheel cancels, red "New York 'Paid 12' May 2" exchange cds, carried by Cunard Line Persia from New York May 2 to Queenstown arriving May 11, red French (5.13) entry cds and La Tremblade (5.14) arrival backstamp, Very Fine and attractive.

'Paid' Jul 31" exchange cds, 1867 docketing at left; barely reduced at right, Very Fine.

1867 (Jul. 20) Havre, France to New York, N.Y., blue folded letter bearing France 80c Empire Issue tied by "1769" diamond lozenge cancel and with matching "Le Havre, 20 Juil. 67" cds, red "P.P." framed handstamp, red London (7.22) transit cds, carried on non-contract voyage of Guion Line Chicago from Liverpool to New York, "New-York Ship Letter '4' Aug 5" arrival cds, Very Fine, The Guion Line Chicago was wrecked on its eight voyage for the Line.

1868 (Jun. 23) Buffalo, N.Y. to Paris, France, Shepard correspondence cover bearing 1867, 2¢ black, 3¢ rose, 10¢ green, E. grills, cancelled by matching circle of wedges cancels, black "New York '30' Jun 25" debit exchange cds with matching "Insufficiently Paid" straightline handstamp, blue Calais entry cds and large "16" decimes due handstamp; flap tear ends in tiny edgetear, a Very Fine three-color grilled franking, ex-Rohloff.
Scott No. 87, 88, 89    Estimate $300 - 400.

This cover was prepaid 15¢ for the ½ oz. rate by French Mail, but was overweight and treated as wholly unpaid for the 30¢ double rate.

H No.1" (10.31) French packet datestamp and red framed "PD" handstamp, a Very Fine choice three-color franking, prepaying the 15¢ rate.

1868 (Dec. 8) New York, N.Y. to Paris, France, blue folded letter with red crayon "4" for quadruple rate and blue crayon "36" debit to France, carried as endorsed by Cunard Line China from New York Dec. 9 arriving at Queenstown on Dec. 18, blue Calais (12.20) entry cds with two bold strikes of "32" decimes due rating (4x single 8 decimes rate), Very Fine, an exceptionally rare French due handstamp as most higher rates were done in manuscript.
